Why is it important?

The click reaction between an azide (on a protein) and an alkyne gives a triazole that can be used for biological tagging of a protein. Knowing where the azide is labeled, allows you to make you triazoles with labels in specific positions. This paper shows where the label in the starting azide and so this gives us information on the position of the label on the "clicked" product which is a triazole.

Perspectives

Several mechanistic schemes are available in the literature. For the first time, we have shown the connectivity of the atoms using 15N labels.
