What is it about?
Making a right handed or left handed molecule starting with a molecule that does not have handedness is a challenge. Usually a catalyst which has handedness is useful. We have shown that aromatic rings in the catalyst can Induce chirality in the product formed in a reaction quite efficiently.

Why is it important?
Chiral molecules are there in nature in abundance. Medicines, agricultural products, pesticides or anything related to biology often has active molecules which are chiral or having handedness. If the right handed molecule has one function, the correspoinding left handed molecule has another function.
