What is it about?
This paper dissects the amyloid nature of the myocilin misfolded state, which is believed to be the underlying cause of myocilin-associated glaucoma

Why is it important?
We discovered two different peptide sequences within the myocilin olfactomedin domain that form bona fide amyloid fibrils. These amyloid structures are seen in the glaucoma-causing variants. By understanding the amyloid state of myocilin, it will be possible to develop an approach inhibit the interaction with small molecules that could serve as a therapeutic for this form of glaucoma.
