What is it about?

In this study, the essential oil (EO) composition, flavonoid and phenolic contents, and antioxidant activities of ten species of Thymus spp. were assessed using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) analysis.

Why is it important?

We found that four Thymus species contain strong antioxidant activities, high thymol and carvacrol contents. and rich in phenolic and flavonoid compounds which can be beneficial for health and well-being.

Perspectives

I hope this article encourages you to try this medicinal herb as drinks or spices. In addition, the Thymus species with high bioactive compounds are recommended for further functional food applications.
