What is it about?

Several wastes can be very useful in the improvement of the mechanical properties of medium carbon steel when quenched. Coconut water, pap water and spent engine oil were utilized in this study. The hardness, yield and ultimate tensile strength were shown to improve as compared to the as-received sample.

Why is it important?

The article provides information on the mechanical properties evaluation of medium carbon steel when quenched in different media (coconut water, pap water and spent engine oil). The mechanical properties of the samples quenched in the media improved when compared with the as-received sample.

Perspectives

I hope you will find it interesting to explore other liquid waste materials as a quenching medium for mechanical properties improvement of medium carbon steels.
