What is it about?
In this paper, the views of ten experts from academia and the building industry are brought together, on promoting well-being in built environment. A range of perspectives on design principles and operational strategies is given. Focus is given to Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) factors, multi-sensory variability, monitoring and management. Future research needs and their translation in practice and standards are discussed.

Why is it important?
Humans spend a large amount of time in built environments: an estimated 87% of the time. Rather than focusing on the negative impacts that can be caused by inadequate indoor environments on human well-being, this paper explores how built environments can enhance positive outcomes, and how, from the range of perspectives offered, a new framework can emerge.
