What is it about?

The work highlights a theoretical model to describe the electrical resistivity in films and fibers made of single-walledcarbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). To verify the model, measurements of the temperature dependence of electrical resistivity of the macroscopic SWCNT assemblies were conducted. This allowed us to estimate various parameters of the material, such as the average length of SWCNT bundles, the acoustic phonon scattering length, and the bundle contact resistance, which are difficult to evaluate experimentally for entangled SWCNTs.

Why is it important?

The work shows how various functional properties are interconnected, and how variances can be used to determine very basic material properties.

Perspectives

Here, a simple mathematical technique, which can be used in other materials made of the same building blocks, is highlighed.
