What is it about?

Application of conventional approaches with the aid of biotechnology to overcome the salinity constraints facing crop plants has been described and discussed.

Why is it important?

Salinity limits the production capabilities of agricultural soils in large areas of the world. Different breeding strategies for improving salinity tolerance in crop plants including screening techniques, important traits, and indicators as well as biotechnology approaches have been described.

Perspectives

Considering that breeding salinity tolerance in crop plants is a difficult task as it is a complex trait, I hope this article help to support strategy formulation and implementation with the aid of biotechnology tools.
