What is it about?
This paper explores a sample of twelve Building for Life developments in the UK to establish the extent to which housing design has impacted upon crime. The findings include police recorded crime data, visual audits and interviews with key stakeholders. The results focus upon the two design elements of road layout and car parking and explore examples of conflicts between the requirements of Building for Life and Crime Prevention through Environmental Design.
