What is it about?

The proceedings of the 2013 RoboCup conference, with 53 papers on the science and technology needed to play soccer, rescue people or let robots assist in homes & factories. This proceedings includes 11 papers from the teams that became champion in their league.

Why is it important?

The RoboCup is yearly competition, where the teams become better every year thanks to algorithms published at this conference. The goal of RoboCup is to beat the human soccer champion in 2050, so you can expect a scientific and technology improvements until that date.

Perspectives

In 2013 the RoboCup initiative visited the Netherlands, which became an impressive event. For instance, there were more than 40.000 visitors watching the games, 2661 participants and a well attended symposium (there were not enough USB-sticks with the electronic proceedings).
