Perspectives

The book "Creative Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education" offers valuable perspectives on the transformative potential of integrating AI and human creativity in educational settings. By discussing the intersection of AI and creativity, the book highlights how these elements can collaboratively reshape educational landscapes. It connects long-standing AIEd research with the latest advancements in generative AI, providing a comprehensive view of the field's evolution and future directions. In relation to the #ppai6 model of creative engagement of AI in education, the book provides insights into how AI can enhance the creative processes in education. The #ppai6 model emphasizes six key areas: problem-solving, personalization, participation, production, performance, and practice. This model outlines six levels of creative engagement with AI: Passive Consumer: The learner consumes AI-generated content without understanding its workings. Interactive Consumer: The learner interacts with AI-generated content, with the system adapting to the learner’s actions. Individual Content Creation: The learner creates new content using AI tools. Collaborative Content Creation: A team creates new content using AI tools. Participatory Knowledge Co-creation: A team, with the collaboration of stakeholders, creates content addressing complex problems using AI tools. Expansive Learning Supported by AI: Participants engage in formative interventions supported by AI, expanding or transforming problematic situations. AI tools assist in identifying contradictions in complex problems, generating concepts or artifacts to resolve conflicting stimuli, and fostering collective agency and action. These tools also help model activity systems and simulate new actions, facilitating the expansive visualization process.
