What is it about?

Pear Psylla is small insect and a formidable pest of Pear trees. The insect suck sap from leaves and dispose honeydew, resulting in growth of fungi and crop loss. Furthermore, intense infestation could result in damage to the tree itself. To-date pesticides are used to control Psylla infection, but as is the case many times immunity is emerging fast. We have looked into the use of resistance pear cultivars that harbor low quality fruits by grafting on them high quality cultivar, resulting in both resistance to Psylla and high quality pears.
