What is it about?

This is an attempt to bring multimodality, as a discipline, to the assistance of audiovisual translation. Multimodal studies are now extensive but little focussed on the problems of translation. The article deals with multimodal transcriptions, referencing systems and multisensorial approaches.

This is one of few attempts so far to see how far multimodality studies can impact on the theroy and practice of audiovisual translation.
