Why is it important?

Gérard Diffloth was a leading figure in Southeast Asian field and historical linguistics. His work was guided by a strong belief in the importance of phonation and passion for drawing on languages' deep native lexicons of fauna terminology.

Perspectives

This article is both a tribute to Diffloth's commitment to linguistic fieldwork, and also a previously unpublished paper authored by Diffloth.
