What is it about?
Marine cyanobacteria - (Oscillatoria boryana) produces hydrogen peroxide and oxygen during photosynthesis. We analyzed and optimized the production of hydrogen peroxide by using various light intensities and also with various chemical enhancers.

Why is it important?
The production of hydrogen peroxide by marine cyanobacteria can be used as a biotechnological process to decolorize the distillery effluent that cause pollution. The study found that marine cyanobacteria can be employed for large scale treatment of colored effluents.
