Why is it important?

Improving the quality of arguments ultimately will not only the quality of discourse, but also could provoke more thorough analysis and more judicious action regarding key social issues. Ultimately, the quality of democracy rests on the quality of argumentation.

Perspectives

I have studied the work of Chaim Perelman and Lucie Olbrechts-Tyteca, especially the magnum opus The New Rhetoric, for any years. During that time, I have also conducted extensive research on ideology critique. This essay explores the relationship between these two lines of thought.
