What is it about?

Frail elderly people with NMS and respiratory failure may be successfully treated with non invasive ventilation in the absence of high temperature

Why is it important?

Use of non-invasive ventilation in NMS is poorly documented in the literature

Perspectives

Atypical and milder cases of NMS with respiratory failure as the only system failure may be treated with non invasive ventilation. As NMS is a rare disease of an urgent nature proper randomized studies are practically impossible to perform and clinical experience is being shared.
