What is it about?

We showed that the the physicochemical, heavy metal concentration, total hetero-trophic and coliform count in the water could probably be as a result of the anthropogenic activities going on inside and around the river. Though activities that give direct contact with human go on in the river, there is little to suggest that adequate wastewater treatment before discharge from adjoining sources is being carried out and this might be a potential source of transmission of infection

Why is it important?

our findings showed that the river may serve as a vehicle for the transmission of microbial pathogens.

Perspectives

This article is of public health importance considering the activities within and around the river
