What is it about?

The primary goal of this research is to investigate geographic variation in rainfall patterns in the Kolkata district using Mann-Kendall (MK) and Sen's slope estimators, which revealed significant increases in pre-monsoon, monsoon, post-monsoon, and yearly rainfall.

Why is it important?

As indicated by the generally high variance in the coefficient of variation measured, the region is very susceptible to droughts and floods. There is a considerable difference in monthly rainfall data between linear regression and Sequential Minimal Optimisation (SMOreg), but no difference in annual rainfall between linear regression, SMOreg, and Cellular Automata-Artificial Neural Network (CA-ANN) analysis.

Perspectives

The goal of this study is to analyse the trend of rainfall, estimate future rainfall, and determine environmental effect over the designated study area utilising the M-K test, Sen's SlopeEstimator, linear regression, SMOreg, and CA-ANNanalysis.
