What is it about?
We made a random sample of 9000 tweets relating to different illnesses, including mental disorders, non-communicable somatic disorders, and communicable disorders. We then used a computer program to examine the affective content (the emtional language) used in the tweets and we also examined whether they were supportive or not.

Why is it important?
Tweets on breast cancer were more often supportive, While tweets on schizophrenia and bipolar disorder were more often non-supportive. Tweets on schizophrenia and bipolar disorder also most frequently contained negative emotional language.
