Perspectives

The first approach to patients with AC is often supportive care. Supportive or conservative therapy include: hyperhydration and continuous bladder irrigation with physiological solution, chondroitin sulfate, sodium hyaluronate, sodium pentosan polysulfate prostaglandins, formalin, alum irrigation; systemic treatments such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy, oestrogen administration, coagulation factors (VII or VIII) and aminocaproic acid; endoscopic therapy with evacuation of clots and fulguration. Surgery remains the most invasive treatment in the management of those patients who are not responsive to these treatments
