Why is it important?
This study is a successful fusion of geotechnical and hydrometeorological expertise. The study provides the future direction of multi-hazard risk mapping in Hong Kong. This article was published before the Typhoon Mangkhut in 2018, whose occurrence drew unprecedented attention to the multi-hazard risk analysis and mapping in highly populated areas, such as Hong Kong, under the projected climate change scenarios. This study integrates environmental covariates from fields that were traditionally independent. With the increasing awareness from the community, this study has set up the agenda for future climate adaptation and resilience in Hong Kong.
