What is it about?
We study the calcification intensity of planktonic foraminiferal shells during a local extinction event indicative of increased environmental stress. We find no adverse effect of stress on shell calcification, but only the expected environmental impact.

Why is it important?
If calcification intensity in planktonic Foraminifera is not influenced by stress, it is a valuable environmental proxy in all environments.
