Why is it important?

As various commonwealth reports and state survey results indicate, access to justice is a pressing concern for many Australians. Universities can help remedy this by raising an awareness of social justice and contemporary rural issues in their law school curricula. An undergraduate curriculum that integrates compulsory rural-themed subjects and core cultural competency skills has enormous potential to positively shape students’ understanding of rural Australia whilst contributing to solve the recruitment and retention of country lawyers.
