What is it about?
This study aimed to develop a communication intervention model to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS among Myanmar migrant workers in Samut Sakhon, Thailand. The researchers used a cohort study and self-administered questionnaire to assess the impact of a media campaign on HIV/AIDS prevention among the workers. The study found that the media campaign was effective in increasing awareness of HIV/AIDS risks and the benefits of preventive measures. The study recommends using Myanmar migrant workers to communicate information about HIV/AIDS transmission, symptoms, prevention, treatment, and rights to treatment.

Why is it important?
Migrant workers, particularly those from Myanmar, are vulnerable to HIV/AIDS due to their risky sexual behavior and limited access to healthcare services. Creating an effective communication intervention model tailored for this population can help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS among them. By involving Myanmar workers in promoting sexual health, the model can overcome language barriers and offer a sustainable approach to addressing other health issues.
