What is it about?
The goal of this article is to understand the corrosion down fastener holes with experiments, while trying to predict future damage down fastener holes with a model. A coating was also applied over the fastener to determine if this corrosion can slowed down or stopped, in real life applications.

Why is it important?
Cracks in structures often initiate at fastener holes. Corrosion down fastener holes can increase the probability of cracks to occur, which may eventually lead to catastrophic failure of the structure. The further understanding of corrosion down fastener holes will help in maintaining current structures, and in preventing failure of future structures.
