What is it about?

Fundamental mechanistc understanding of plant ageing is important. Three category of ageing degradation. One is materials ageing degradation such as thermal embrittlement, hydrogen embrittlement, irradiation embrittlement etc, second surface ageing degradation such as wear, fretting, pitting etc. and third is defect degradation caused by crack initiation and growth by stress crrosion cracking, corrosion fatigue etc.

Why is it important?

Utilize the facilities and equipments as long as possible with safety and economy

Perspectives

Final goal of these work is to develop new alloys based upon the mechanistic understanding of the degradation.
