What is it about?

The goal of this paper was to cover progress in the field of corrosion economics and determine whether corrosion costs are really quantifiable. In doing so, it is necessary to make a distinction between the costs of corrosion from losses due to corrosion.

Why is it important?

This paper shows that, while corrosion costs can be evaluated using a new tool, the corrosion technical coefficient, the losses caused by corrosion are difficult to define and, therefore, to quantify.
