What is it about?
MAIN IDEA: Unlocking MOOC Success: Innovative Strategies to Boost Completion Rates. This study explores the use of follow-up surveys as a tool to prevent dropout rates in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). The researchers designed a specific follow-up survey for two MOOCs offered by the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) on the edX platform: "Strategy and Innovation in Public Administrations" and "Public Policies and Accountability". The survey was developed based on literature analysis, existing completion surveys for these courses, and the responses obtained from them.

Why is it important?
This research is crucial because it addresses one of the most significant challenges in online education: high dropout rates in MOOCs. By developing and implementing targeted follow-up surveys, educators and course designers can gain valuable insights into student engagement and potential reasons for dropout. This information can be used to create more effective retention strategies, ultimately improving the overall success and impact of MOOCs. Furthermore, the proposed survey methodology has the potential to be adapted and applied to other MOOCs and online courses, making it a valuable tool for the broader e-learning community.
