What is it about?
Being international at its heart, maritime transport has a great advantage as a workplace. It offers a vibrant and versatile job market, unbounded by borders with a competitive income. These qualities could interest many talented people and be considered an attractive career, especially among the younger generation. Unfortunately, today's maritime job market is not resonating that fact anymore and research into this field does not promise a bright future.

Why is it important?
Research predicts that if the maritime industry does not improve the current conditions then the attractiven ess of maritime careers will gradually diminish. The recruitment, compensation and retention policies need to create a stronger image that inspires the new generation of talents to be attracted to the shipping industry before it is too late. Successful shipping depends heavily on the quality and competencies of the seafarers on board ships.
