What is it about?
We found that few enteric viruses were detected in natural Iwagaki oysters harvested in the Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, during the 2014–2018 seasons. No enteric viruses were detected in hard or surf clams. Natural these bivalves were relatively safe. Contamination with enteric viruses in bivalves may depend on the prevalence of human illness in the same season.
