What is it about?

No to do harm is an important guide for MDs in treating pain patients. Not to do harm is possible with analgeiscs like the body-own molecule palmitoylethanolamide. Since 2015 we know its NNT in neuropathic pain: 1.5. Thus each pain specialist should start treatment of pain with palmitoylethanolamide (3 times 400 mg/day).

Why is it important?

This is important while there ar too many patients with low analgesics compliance. PEA can changes this.

Perspectives

I think MDs should start triggering body-own mechanisms to counteract pain, such as with palmitoylethanooamide. Its proven efficacy (NNT 1.5) and absence of troublesome side effects nearly dictates to give this compound a central place in analgesia.
