What is it about?
This paper shows that chemicals that have structures that are different from estradiol can bind to the estrogen receptor. Thus, there are chemicals with novel structures that can interfere with estrogen action in humans and other animals. This means we have to expand our searches of chemical databases for potential chemicals that can interfere with estrogen signaling.

Why is it important?
We are using a narrow definition of chemicals that can disrupt estrogen signaling. We need to expand our structural definition to identify harmful chemicals.
