Why is it important?

This paper will help us to know the various aspects needed to address for reducing the gun shot practice of routine pre-operative investigations before elective surgeries.

Perspectives

Routine preoperative investigations are not recommended. It leads to many unnecessary tests which actually do not contribute in the management of such patients. It costs a huge amount to the patients as well as the health care delivery authority. With continued escalating health care cost, it is very important to reduce the surgical care cost as it is a lion share of the total health care cost.
