Proposes a new hypothesis with proof of concept for the role of polycystin - a protein known to cause cysts in kidney, ovaries, liver, pancreas etc. to be involved in dilated dental follicles and dentigerous cysts and not in normal follicles

Newer dimension and understanding of cystogenesis is proposed. Preventive extraction of impacted teeth has been a issue of contention. Hopefully this mechanism would help to unravel the exact mechanism of dentigerous cyst transformation
