Why is it important?

Technological advancements have undeniably improved the efficiency and accessibility of information storage and retrieval, both in professional settings and personal spaces. However, these advancements also bring forth a plethora of challenges. The rapid emergence of these challenges within work environments, combined with the constant threat of technological obsolescence, has raised concerns regarding the long-term preservation of generated information. Furthermore, as freely available software and file-sharing platforms become more prevalent, privacy and security guarantees are frequently compromised.

Perspectives

The subsequent conversations brought attention to the notion that InterPARES might primarily address issues relevant to developed countries. Nevertheless, given the rapid pace of change and the impact of globalization, these concerns specific to developed nations are projected to become worldwide challenges in just a few years.
