What is it about?
A composite made out of high strength and chemically inert polymeric material PEEK and bio inductive ceramic-Hydroxyapatite is analysed for mechanical strength and rigidity to go as bone implant material. Ceramic reinforcement of this composite is extracted from chicken egg shells and processed for composite formation. Mechanical properties of this composite was almost reaching 114MPa in flexure strength and Young's modulus as high as 7.4GPa

Why is it important?
Economy in processing the reinforcement and appreciable mechanical properties were attractive in this work.
