What is it about?

preparation of activated carbon from waste biomass such as coconut shell and rubber seed pericarp and the mixing of both sample. The prepared sample was then analyses and characterize in order to identify the physical properties of activated carbon sample. The analysis includes BET analysis, SEM image analysis, Iodine number and methylene blue analysis.

Why is it important?

this is important in oder to reduce the abundancy of waste biomass. waste biomass may leads to pollutant when those waste emit leachate and polluted gas. therefore the utilisation of waste biomass such as coconut shell and rubber seed pericarp can be converted to activated carbon is important. Activated carbon can be used in various way especially in reduction of pollution.

Perspectives

so far, the preparation of activated carbon are only depending on single biomass. Therefore, in this study, the mixing of 2 waste biomass in production of activated carbon contribute to finding instead of preparing activated carbon from single waste.
