What is it about?
For foamed plastics is important the bubble (Cell) size, it have been associated to the final mechanical properties. From years the control of size and morphology of bubbles have been studied. To form more and small bubbles we can use some agents better known as nucleant agents. In this work the ground tire rubber (GTR) is added to the composites and we analyze its behavior as nucleant agent. We used a internal mixer to mix all componentes and to foam in constant conditions we use a RPA rheometer (for rubbers). To measure the nucleant effect we determined cell size, cellular density, nucleation potential, apparent and relative density. Under controled conditions we observed an important cell nucleation in the composites with the increment in the content and diminish the size of GTR particle.

Why is it important?
This work have an important scientific impact and a ambiental component using a GTR not just as filler, as nucleant agent to improve the cellular morphology and then an increment in the mechanical properties.
