Why is it important?

In this study, chitosan film has been successfully used as a converter layer which can convert water vapor into electrical power. This result provides a new alternative to clean energy production.

Perspectives

In this work, a reliable, cheap and practical water vapor cell based on biopolymer chitosan film was successfully fabricated. The water vapor cell has been well proven that it is able to convert water vapor into electrical power by direct interaction between converter surfaces with water vapor. Therefore, this evidence proves that chitosan film has a huge potential as energy conversion material and produce a water vapor panel in future.
