What is it about?
The Plane Disc sensor and the corresponding physical model was introduced. The disc have very little patternality to create maximal area of the thermal contact with the sample . The measurement of thermal properties of liquid and solid materials is the primary area of basic and applied research.

Why is it important?
The model accounts the heat transfer coefficient in between the free sample surface and the surrounding. This allows to avoid the problem with the limited size of the sample especially in radial direction that causes the exceeding heat penetration depth adequate to specimen radius comparing to similar or related methods. The added value is the value of the heat transfer coefficient, as the method offer the measurement of thermal diffusivity, thermal conductivity and specific heat within a sigle measurement.
