What is it about?
It is often hoped that intercultural competence developed through outbound mobility initiatives will give university students 'the edge' they need to be successful when working in international and global contexts. While travel can contribute to students' development of intercultural competence, this does not happen just because they study abroad. This work presents a pedagogical model for intercultural learning.

Why is it important?
Australian universities are receiving increased funding to support outbound mobility through the New Colombo Plan. This work contributes a focus on teaching and learning opportunities for institutions, professionals, educators and students involved with outbound mobility.
