What is it about?
During the 19th century, in Algiers, glass roofs overlying stairwells were widely used in the European houses, it was designated in French by the denomination of "ciel-ouvert" which literally means open sky. Investigations conducted in the first European quarter of Algiers have led to the identification of models of this type of glass roofs, and theirs assembling techniques. Moreover, archival documents consulted, especially building permits and technical magazines, allow describing this latter.
