What is it about?

Why is it important?

This article provided a fresh look at the construct of motivation in language learning at a period before Dörnyei's fundamental work on the subject. It also provided a French-language publication on the subject.

Perspectives

As my first academic publication, this article is both naive and forward-looking. Several years later Raby and Narcy-Combes (2009, Lidil) presented the same theories as fundamental for study in this area.
