What is it about?
We introduce DS4H, a geographically distributed and decentralized research network dedicated to the development and testing of blockchain technologies. The paper outlines the need for a physical test network to provide a realistic environment for evaluating blockchain applications (DAPPs), overcoming limitations of cloud-based testbeds and simulators. The DS4H network prioritizes sustainability, utilizing low-cost devices and energy-efficient consensus protocols like RAFT. The paper details three key components of DS4H: 1. Decentralized Network: Comprising nodes across diverse locations, enabling realistic testing scenarios and system scalability evaluation. 2. Chainex Workbench: A user-friendly web-based platform streamlining the deployment and testing of smart contracts for developers. 3. Decentralized Governance Model: Ensuring the network's sustainability through a consortium of institutions, guided by a usage policy and automated management via smart contracts.
