What is it about?

The new EASE Interactive Checklist for Submitting Authors is intended for use by journal editors and publishers to guide their submissions forms and requirements for authors. It combines the individual EASE Form for Authors’ Contributions and Conflict of Interest Disclosure, and the EASE Ethics Checklist for Authors into a single convenient easy to complete form with check-box responses, up-to-date questions and terminology based around the CRediT – Contributor Roles Taxonomy.

Why is it important?

Journals play a vital role in ensuring the ethical integrity of research communications. The information requested in the submission process, through forms such as those created by EASE, captures information that assures journal editors and readers that the research has been conducted in keeping with relevant established guidelines, policies, and ethical standards and promotes greater recognition, equity, fairness, and accountability in authorship.

Perspectives

I am very happy to update this long-running EASE resource, to make it even more useful for the research community. It is one of the most popular EASE documents, and I think this revision to it simplifies the complex information requests, making it easier for authors to complete and journals to use. I may be biased, but I certainly encourage all journal editors to consider adopting the new checklist.
