This video describes how tear cytokines can be easily assayed for clinical studies.

Why is it important?
Ocular surface diseases like dry eye and allergies are very common. Tear is actually the extracellular matrix of ocular surface epithelium. Tear cytokines inform us about the level and type of ocular surface inflammation.
Perspectives
This method of collecting tears and performing the measurement has been found to be easy and reliable. It can be used by many practitioners since the collected tears can be stored to be analysed at a future date.
