What is it about?
This model of autoimmune dry eye can be used to evaluate drugs that target the T cells.

Why is it important?
There is no satisfactory treatment in Sjogren syndrome and other autoimmune diseases that cause dry eye. Current treatment like steroids have adverse effects such as raised intraocular pressure. Cyclosporine is not as potent as corticosteroids.
