What is it about?

Korean outbound travel is very susceptible to changing circumstances. For example outbound travel to various overseas destinations collapsed after the Asian financial crisis in the late 1990s before rebounding later. Many destinations experienced serious short term impacts. This prompted the authors to think about the wider susceptibility of Korean travelers to perceptions or risk. The paper is novel because it looks at risk perceptions in a broad sense including issues of cultural distance.
