What is it about?

MSC is a kind of adult stem cells which can originated from various part of body. Using MSC treats OA is an emerge method. Besides MSC regeneration, they also own immunomodulation effect. Clinical trials using MSC to treat OA are ongoing.

Why is it important?

There is no good therapy for OA. Current OA treatment are including NSAIDs, intra-articular injection of Hyaluronant or finally total knee or hip replacement. MSCs can provide another non-traumatic modality to cure OA.

Perspectives

In the future, I hope we can use MSC with hydrogel intra-articular injection to treat OA.
